A day with the Royals!

I just want to start off by saying, this was one of the best days of my life. I have always been interested in the royal family and the history behind the family. (maybe thats a sign that I'm royal) lol. While in London, Queen Elizabeth was having her annual birthday parade. It is always on the second Saturday in June. When I found out about the parade, I knew I wanted to attend! The parade started at 10 o'clock! Kayla, Haley, Elijah and I woke up bright and early and headed to Victoria Street near the Buckingham Palace where the parade was being held. We arrive at 8 o'clock and we had the PERFECT spot! It was freezing but seeing the queen was worth it! The streets were filled with eager tourist and excited locals! The parade was one of the biggest events of year! People from all around London came to see Queen Elizabeth, the rest of the royal family and the royal guards!

The parade started off with the first group of Royal Guards marching, playing their instruments and just looking fabulous as ever! You could tell they practiced their entire life for this moment. Not a single guard was off beat or even breaking a smile. My friend Kayla always joked about going up to a guard and just dancing and singing and going crazy in front of him to see if he will crack a smile. But sadly she never got to try it! The music was very instrumental and it made me feel like I was a real local! (ha I WISH) I could listen to the guards play all day long.

After the Royal Guards, Kings Guards and many, many more groups came through, it was time to see her Majesty, The Queen! In front of carriage was Prince Harry and Megan Markle. Fun fact about the Kings Guards, this is the only set of guards that are allowed to have women in the group!

Her carriage was magnificent! The crowd went wild when we saw her and she lit up everyones faces! The crown on top resembled the first crown she wore when she became queen! My have they changed since then! The great thing about getting a front row spot was, a "bobbie" which is a cop in England, stopped and talked to us for a while about the history and all things royal! It was great learning from a real local! After the parade was over with. They opened the gates and let everyone on the road! We all started walking (more like running) towards Buckingham Palace for the end of the parade! The royal family walks out onto the balcony and waves to everyone! We also got one of the best spots! While the family was out on the balcony, the Royal Navy flew past the palace with red, white and blue smoke coming out of the planes engines! It was beautiful! To end the parade, the guards walked out of the palace gates and started playing and preforming a song for the Queen!

I love their love for the queen! Their enthusiasm, and support of the royal family is amazing! At the end of the parade, we all went to eat lunch at Shake Shack! It was definalty a great ending to a great day!
